G Shift - Newsletter #3 2025

Greetings,

Fellow Petrolheads...

August is here, and in my mind, officially we are over the worst of the winter cold. Things can only get warmer (and better) from here on out, right?

Well, to put on a legal hat and answer matter-of-factly: it depends. The global political landscape is still in turmoil, and in the last newsletter, I touched on some of the tariffs being introduced which would impact on product pricing and ultimately, availability. While we had some respite in what can best be described as a cooling-off period, the tariff increases appear to be locked in from August onwards.

But, on the brighter side, we are all soldiering on, doing what we need to do, and staying in our lanes. While things have been fairly quiet here at G Shift the past few months, work is always ongoing in the background to bring you awesome products. We've also got some other interesting news we are proud to share.

BMW Car Club Gauteng Concours d'Elegance 2025:

At the outset, this was going to be a special event. A closed event for club members only, an exclusive venue and also celebrating 50 years of BMW in South Africa. After entering 2 cars for display, it was all systems go to get ready. This escalated quickly when we were gently persuaded to enter the Concours’ Show and Shine Category with one of the cars. With this being our first Concours event, and with only a handful of days to prepare, it was stressful, but satisfying and rewarding. Having a good base to start with with the Baby BMW, the cleaning and prep was relentless. Two hours on the morning of the show for final prep evaporated faster than planned as well.

Judging was fair and critical. What could not be seen with the naked eye, the earbuds were sent in for further investigation and reconnaissance work. It was an interesting experience for sure. But, once all was said and done, we managed a 2nd place in the Show and Shine Category! Special thanks to Mrs G Shift and Jabu for the help and support in the days leading up to the event.

New Products in the G Shift Online Store:

As always, we have added a number of new products to the store:

From The Rag Company, we have two Brand new Drying Towels. The Slim Dryer is a dual-pile towel, 630GSM in a 70:30 blend and is available in three colours. With it's bold branding on the towel, everyone will know you are working with the best.

The Liquid8r M22 is a 50cm x 50cm powerhouse of a Drying Towel. With a 70:30 blend, it is a heavy-weight contender, boasting an incredible 2200GSM of microfiber goodness! It's not a big towel either, so it is still user-friendly, even with one hand.

Solution Finish Trim Restorer and Over the Top Plastic Sealer:

These products are fast gaining popularity on the local market, and in recent months, have also seen a surge in demand overseas. So much so, that it is difficult to maintain stock of these incredible products. If you're looking to level up your black (or grey) plastic trim, both inside and out, pre-order now to secure your allocation in the next shipment. (Our last shipment sold out in less than 24hrs after clearing customs).

G Shift Turns 5 Next Month!

September is G Shift's birthday month. It's hard to believe that around this time 5 years ago, plans were already brewing to start something new, something to share the passion and the enthusiasm, something to stress about, and something to lose (limited) sleep about.

But here we are, 5 years later. It's not been easy by any means, but it has been a journey. Like our homepage says: "Let the Journey Continue...".

With birthdays, come celebrations. We have some exciting things in the pipeline, so stay tuned for further updates in the coming weeks. There may be some product giveaways, some lucky draws, some awesome deals and some new products too.

Keep an eye out on the website, and of course our Instagram social media outlet for more details.

That's all for now. As always, Thank You for your Support!

Let the Journey Continue...
